10 ChatGPT Prompts You Can Copy and Paste
· 6 min read
Most people open ChatGPT, stare at the empty box, and type something vague. The answer comes back generic, and they decide AI "isn't that useful." The problem usually isn't the tool. It's the prompt.
Here are 10 prompts for everyday situations. Copy them, swap the details in [brackets], and go. They work in free ChatGPT, and in Gemini, Copilot or Claude too.
Want to know why they work? Read our guide on how to write a prompt.
What is a prompt?
A prompt is the message you use to ask AI for something. The AI can't read your mind; it responds to what you write. A vague prompt gets a vague answer. A clear one with context gets something you can use as-is.
The 5 parts of a good prompt
Every example below uses the same structure:
- ROLE: who the AI should act as (a chef, a teacher, an advisor).
- CONTEXT: your real situation and the details that matter.
- TASK: what you need, with a clear verb: write, plan, explain.
- DETAILS: limits, tone, preferences, things to avoid.
- RESPONSE FORMAT: list, table, email, short message.
Starting with the role matters: a lawyer and a teacher don't answer the same way.

How to get better results
Fix it in the same chat
The first answer is a draft. Don't start over: say "shorter," "more casual," or "give me another option." ChatGPT remembers the conversation.
Use real details
"We're a family of 4 on a tight budget" beats "a family." Specific wins.
Save your favorites
When a prompt works, save it in your phone's notes. Next time, just change the brackets.
Always double-check
AI can be wrong, especially about facts, dates, health or money. Treat it as an assistant, not the final word. Never type passwords or card numbers.
Use them on your phone
All of these work in the app. Here's how to use ChatGPT free on your phone.
FAQ
Do I need paid ChatGPT for these prompts?
No. They all work in the free version and in other AI tools like Gemini or Copilot.
Do I always need all 5 parts?
For a quick question, the task alone is enough. For something you'll send or actually rely on, use all five.
Can I use these prompts in Spanish?
Yes. ChatGPT works very well in Spanish; just write in the language you want the answer in. Our Copy & Paste AI pack is bilingual.
What if I don't like the answer?
Ask for specific changes ("shorter," "different tone," "as a table") or add more context and try again.
